“I remember my time as a Girl Guide and the valuable lessons I learnt along the way. Not only were the values taught at home reinforced, I was introduced to a leadership program that has helped shape my political career. I look out at all the fresh, young faces and offer this advice; take hold of every opportunity Girl Guides Queensland offers you; continue to formulate opinions, voice them and embrace the experiences that lay ahead”.
Thanks for the warm welcome Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk
Over 34 MPs, lead by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, found time at Parliament House to host the first event of the Parliamentary Friends of Girl Guides. The celebration recognized the 100th Anniversary of Guiding in Queensland, and there was a small taste of the diversity of the guiding program…loads of fun, new skills and experiences and emerging friendships.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Charis Mullen MP - State Member for Jordan and her power team (Fran and Rose) for assistance in organizing this fabulous event, to Parliament of Queensland for participating in today’s activities and supporting the work that Guides do in empowering girls and young women to grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members. We would also like to thank the 39 Guide Members, Leaders and staff that contributed to the success of today in providing a true Guiding experience for Parliamentary Members and excitingly announced the pre-launch of our 2019 Centenary Biscuit Campaign.
